Obituary of James "Jim" Lee Zastrow

James (Jim) Lee Zastrow, of Davenport, passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2021, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral services will be held at Noon Friday (2/19) at the Runge Mortuary & Crematory, Davenport. Visitation will be one and a half hours prior to the service at the mortuary. Those attending are asked to wear a mask and to practice social distancing. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association (https://www.diabetes.org/).

Jim was born on October 21, 1940 in Bedford, Ohio, the son of Leo R. and Norma (Hill) Zastrow. He was a graduate of Deer Park High School in Deer Park, Ohio and served in the United States Army Reserve for six years. On May 14, 1966, Jim married the love of his life Diane D. Sprinkle at St. Nicholas of Tolentine Church in Chicago. Prior to his retirement in 1998, he worked as a field engineer technician for National Cash Register (NCR).

He was a vintage car enthusiast and he and his wife participated in car shows across the Midwest. Jim also enjoyed watching NASCAR, gambling at the local riverboat casinos, and was an avid Chicago Bears fan. He cherished his time spent with his family, especially with his wife Diane.

Those left to honor his memory include his children, Deborah Cox, Davenport; Dawn (John) Leach, Lake In The Hills, Ill.; and Gary Zastrow, Bettendorf; and four grandchildren, Cody, David, Dylan, and Megan.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Bob and Larry Zastrow, and sisters Joyce (Yorkievitz) and Marilyn (Engelhardt).
